Hungary win Euro Twenty20 tournament in Macedonia with one ball to spare! In a thrilling finish to the tournament Hungary beat Russia by 3 wickets with one ball to spare. The Russian total of 165-6 seemed very competitive, but Sufiyan Mohammed's innings of 82 helped Hungary to their first-ever senior tournament triumph. Eddie Allnutt was the Hungary hero as they won their first match in Group A of the 8-nation tournament against Croatia by 5 wickets, but the team ran out of overs as they lost to Romania, before getting back on track in their last group match. A comprehensive victory over hosts Macedonia put Hungary into the semi-finals of the Euro Twenty20 tournament, where they got the better of Bulgaria in a low-scoring match before they conquered Russia to lift the trophy. teams, squad and results...
Blues set new records: Congratulations to Onka Ozkul for setting a new HCA Bowling Record with 6 wickets for 6 runs off 4.5 overs on Sunday 27th June! His performance included a hatrick of bowleds against arguably the Kangas' best 3 batsmen. Thanks to Onka his team, Baggy Blues Artosz set a new ’lowest HCA score’, bowling the Danubian Kangaroos out for 30 to beat the previous record, also held by the Baggies, of bowling out Comenius for 32 in August 2008 (on that day Mark Bownas got a hatrick). In their match on Thursday 24th June Baggy Blues Desperados racked up a massive 249-8 off 20 overs (another new record) to defeat Dunabogdany in the Hungarian Cup and clinch a semi-final spot.
Champions! Hungary juniors triumph in Croatia: Thanks to some impressive displays, Hungary juniors won all their four matches in Zagreb over the weekend of 19-20 June to come out on top in a tri-nation tournament with Croatia and Slovenia. Soma Cziraky top-scored in the tournament, while Casper Sperling had the best bowling figures. scorecards + report + photos
Full Tossers recover to thrash Kangaroos: Reeling at 22-5, the Baggy Blues Full Tossers were grateful to an 81-run partnership between Mark Bownas (25) and Alex (42) to post a total of 147 all out, which proved too much for the Danubian Kangaroos (for whom only Viktor Agoston with 22 got into double figures). The Kangaroos next face reigning champions the Royal Tigers on Saturday, the same day as the Baggy Blues two teams pit their wits against each other... Budapest Falcons play Phoenix on Sunday.
