Comenius Boys beat IBM by 41 runs
The absence of a few of the regular boys ended up aiding the home team, with Zoltan Mago stepping down from the Premier League to smash his way to an unbeaten half-century. He was helped somewhat by the fearful bowling of the IBM bowlers, who gave him some full tosses to feast on and take the score to an imposing 127-7 off their full 20 overs.
Apart from Zoli, David showed he is improving his concentration with an innings of 11, while Attila Vakan made 14, but nobody else made more than 3. Matyi showed his talent with the ball with a very accurate spell to take 3-13, while Boris Borren gave away 15 wides but also took three wickets in his 3-33. In total 35 wides were bowled, despite a very lenient umpire.
In reply IBM scored at the same rate as Comenius, with their seventh wicket falling at 70 (the home team's fell at 69). That was thanks mainly to a partnership of 41 between captain Martin East (18) and keeper Nico (17), but neither of them could match Zoli's power hitting and the innings fizzled out in the 18th over.
Two new bowlers leaked wides, but the experience of Kristof Noll-Batek and Zoli restricted the scoring. However, the star bowler was Botond Csontos, who returned figures of 3-3 off 4 overs in only his second match as a serious player. One to watch for the future!
So, a comfortable victory for the home team, but there were some positives for the visitors to take into their next match, a short lunch-break later...

Comenius Anita Girls beat IBM by 1 wicket
With the girls struggling at 29-7 chasing 85 to win, IBM thought they had it in the bag, but they didn't reckon with the vomiting home captain Claudia Balogh...
The IBM batting in the second match was very similar to that in the first, with Nico this time hitting 20 and Martin 14 in their total of 84 all out off 19.1 overs.
The bowling from the female home team was almost uniformly perfect, an amazing fact given that the five bowlers are all aged between 15 and 17. Adrienn Zics snapped up the first three wickets, all bowled, then Brigi Hotea clean bowled three more batsmen in her first five balls, striking fear into the hearts of the adult visitors. Martin was the victim of a very unfortunate run-out, a full-on cover drive ricocheting off Zsuzsa's leg straight to the bowler. And when Boris was run out for 9, the girls felt confident they could make the target.
However, star batsman Claudia fell first-time round for a duck in the second over and things were looking glum. Only Brigi scored any runs until Claudia came back for her second bat (as there were only 6 females playing, all but one batted twice, with the boys acting as guest fielders). She had vomited between her times at the crease (and even stopped batting to rush to the toilet once more) but had nothing to lose with the score on 48-8, throwing her bat at everything except the most dangerous balls. The tactic worked and even Adri got in on the act with a pull to the square-leg boundary. With four needed from four overs, the captain tried to stop the rot, but his second ball was despatched over mid-off and couldn't be stopped by the two desparate fielders.
A dramatic victory for the girls, proving that their bowling can restrict better batting teams to manageable targets. And that even toilet breaks can't hold a Hungarian cricket girl down!
