One of the main aims of the International Cricket Council (ICC) is to promote and encourage the growth of women's cricket - the Hungarian Cricket Association shares this aim
There are currently females playing cricket in Békéscsaba, Budapest, Isaszeg, Székesfehérvár (Comenius CC and Talentum CC), Szolnok (Szanda CC) and Tiszakürt
Women are welcome at every open training session (indoors, outdoors and in the nets) and can play in every match |

Women's cricket began at the very start of cricket in Hungary - at the Comenius School freshers camp in September 2006 (history page)
The Hungarian girls and womens teams have so far travelled to play in three tournaments in Germany - Potsdam in February 2008 (report), Oldenburg in February 2009 (report), Munich in May 2009 - and one in Belgium in 2011 (report), and they have played in Austria regularly
In the 2007 Hungarian Cricket League one female player (15-year-old Fanni Cziraky) played in matches for Comenius Seniors
In the 2008 HCL, three female players (Fanni Cziraky, Brigi Hotea and Claudia Balogh) from the Comenius Cricket Club squad played in matches and two others (Mirtyll Hagymasi and Emese Mathe) played in matches against touring teams
In the 2009 HCL an all-female team competed in the Development Division under the name Comenius Anita Girls and came second
The HCA organised the Anita-Hungaria Women's Cricket Festival in June 2009 (sponsored by quality lingerie distributor Anita-Hungaria), featuring the first ever match for the Hungary Women team (report and photos)
The II Anita-Hungaria Women's Cricket Festival was held in August 2010, with girls and women from 5 countries playing (report and photos)
Three women (Fanni Cziraky, Brigi Hotea and Claudia Balogh) played for various teams in the 2010 HCL and played for DCC Fairies in the 2011 T20 League |
